ABOUT US

HISTORY

The Presbyterian Student Center was established at Georgia Southwestern State University in 1982 with the help of a few professors and members of First Presbyterian Church in Americus.  The student center still has deep ties to FPC Americus and is a ministry of the Flint River Presbytery.

MEET OUR
CAMPUS MINISTER

Originally from Chattanooga, TN, Campus Minister Mary Runyon earned her BS from the University of Tennessee and her MBA and Masters of Divinity from Gardner-Webb University.  She was then ordained at First Baptist Church in Chattanooga, TN, and went on to serve as an associate pastor for churches in Kentucky, Tennessee, and North Carolina.

Today, Mary is married to her husband, Will Runyon, who serves as the Director of Chaplaincy and Palliative care at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.  Together they have three beautiful children (Greta, Emmie, and Oliver).

Mary enjoys hiking, being outdoors, playing with her goofy dogs, and laughing out loud at entertaining memes.  She looks forward to getting to know you!
